In 2008, Usain Bolt and the Jamaican team set the new record for the 4x100m relay, which was held by the U.S. for 15 years, by .30. In London 2012 Olympics, Bolt, Yohan Blake, Michael Frater and Nesta Carter improved their nation’s record by another .30 to record 36.84. Russia’s Elena Lashmanova completed the 20km walk in 1:25.02, improving the previous record by six seconds held by fellow Russian Vera Sokolova. The women’s 4x100m relay record was set by East Germany in 1985. It took almost 27 years for the record to be broken by the U.S. team comprised of Carmelita Jeter, Bianca Knight, Allyson Felix, and Tianna Madison at 40.82, almost a one-second improvement.  David Lekuta Rudisha of Kenya celebrates after winning gold and setting a new world record in the Men's 800m Final. At first, Tatiana Kashirina of Russia lifted 149kg in the +75kg snatch to beat a record held for eight months, but improved within the event to lift 151kg. China’s Lulu Zhou topped Tatian Kashirina’s 332kg lift, which was a new record in itself, in the +75 overall event by 1kg. Italian shooter Jessica Rossi shot all 75 targets in the women’s trap event on Aug. 4. The record was improved by one point, set 14 years ago by Ukranian Victoria Chuyko.  The U.S. women’s team set a new record in London for the 4x100m medley relay improving .14 on a 3-year-old record by China.
