Xiaojun Lu of China broke records in the 77kg snatch and overall lifts, both were improved by 1kg.

Alexei Klimov of Russia continued his reign of the 25m rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Games. He improved on his 5-year-old record by 1pt.
By the end of the cycling events, Jinjie Gong(L) and Shuang Guo of China’s 500m team sprint won silver, but also set a new record of 32.422s.

Rebecca Soni of the U.S. shattered the 2009 record for the women’s 200 breaststroke and reclaimed the event after Canadian Annamay Pierse bested Soni’s 2008 performance. 
Daniel Gyurta of Hungary not only won gold, but beat a 3-year-old record in London. Gyurta said he would duplicate his medal in honor of fellow competitor Alexander Dale Oen of Norway, who died during a training session prior to the Olympics. Oen won the world championships in 2011 and was a favorite gold contender for the London Games.
Zulfiya Chinshanlo of Kazakhstan lifted 131kg, improving the record by 1kg, in the 53kg clean and jerk. The lift also earned her gold. 
Dana Vollmer of the U.S. narrowly beat the women’s 100m butterfly record by .08. Vollmer won gold and improved on Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom’s 2009 record.
South Africa’s Cameron van der Burgh won the men’s 100m breaststroke with a time of 58.46s improving on the record set by Brenton Rickard of Australia in 2009. A week after winning his gold medal , van der Burgh admitted to using an illegal dolphin kick during the race, but was allowed to keep his award after officials were unable to sanction him. 
London’s breakout swimming star Shiwen Yewowed the world as she shattered the record in the women’s 400m individual medley. The 16-year-old was accused of doping to account for her blistering speed, but after multiple tests no trace of illegal substances were found.
The South Korea men’s archery team (R) improved their own record by 18pts, but ended up with silver at the end of the 3x72 arrows event. The team has continued improving their world record since 1996. 
Dong Hyun Im of South Korea gives a thumb-up to his performance at the individual 72 arrows event. He has held the top record since 2004, beating former record holder Michele Frangili of Italy.
