Fisherman lands huge, rare albino catfish
By Delords - Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Joseph Madigan, 26, was vacationing in Spain with his uncle, "a keen fisherman," when the lad caught the fish of a lifetime, according to the report in Your Local Guardian.co.uk.
Madigan, despite his amateur status with a rod and reel, managed to land the beast in 30 minutes from the River Ebro, located near Barcelona. And no, the "keen fisherman" wasn't jealous.
"My uncle was OK about it," Madigan told the Guardian, "he caught a 150-pound catfish in the same week, so we both came home happy."
Though massive in size, the albino catfish caught by Madigan wasn't a world record. That is the 194-pound albino catfish landed last summer on the same stretch of river by another British angler.
Still, it is believed to be one of the biggest ever landed in Europe.
